I travel the whole country for work and I can honestly tell you this is one of the best places I have ever been. I had the Platter Fantastico. It was Amazing! The Flautas are Incredible. The food was DELICIOUS!!!

Food is delicious. Can't go wrong with the beef burrito. Salsa is perfect! Chips just the right amount of salty. It's a cute atmosphere...cheesy Mexican decor per the usual. Lots of parking available. The service can be slow. And the margaritas are not strong enough in my opinion! But hey, anywhere you can eat free on your birthday is okay in my book. I'll visit again.

Never been disappointed. Always great food and great service! Platter Fantastico is my favorite. The chips and salsa are plentiful!

I was more excited about the takeout containers than the actual food if that tells you anything. My whole experience left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Enchilada, Tamale and Crispy Taco Dinner and for the SO the Flame Grilled Carne Asada Dinner. When I called I specifically asked if there was any lettuce, pico de gallo or sour cream on anything. The response I got was "I don't think so." I asked her to please make sure because my SO gets off at 4AM and reheating lettuce is blasphemy. Well I get there 10 mins after the quoted time and still have to wait another 10 after paying for them to get my food. Not wait for it, just walk to the kitchen and get it. Ok whatever, it's busy so I let it go. Well I'm not the type of person that pulls everything out of the bag to 2x check so I throw it in the back while I finish errands. I get home and sure enough there's lettuce on everything. The place was closed by the time I noticed so we lost 1/2 of our sauce picking through wilted lettuce. I will say tho, even for it being reheated the food was ok. Carne Asada was still tender.

First I will say that the food, atmosphere, and service is usually pretty good. No real complaint about it. My only problem with this Mexican restaurant is that as a trucker I've eaten Mexican food from TX to CA. When Paridso calls their food "South Of The Border" It must mean the Canadian border. Their version is basically Americanized Mexican. Some like that version. I prefer authentic. That's why I only have three stars. Has nothing to do with quality or service. If a restaurant claims to be Mexican, then I expect real Mexican

Worst chips and salsa I've had (think public school cafeteria quality), but the enchiladas, rice and beans were great. Very authentic flavors. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing, and the service was prompt and friendly, even though we gave them little notice that our party of 10 would be arriving.

I have eaten at Paradiso many times years ago and just came back today. I did not have very good memories from the past- just bland Tex Mex kind of food. This time I had ordered a seafood burrito, which was filled with artificial crab. When I inquired with the server she stated that the dish is filled with real lobster meat - I thought to myself - no way in heck is this not artificial! This was not my request, nonetheless, the manager kindly brought the frozen package of seafood they used for this dish, on which the writing said "lobster meet and surimi". If you're not familiar with the word surimi you can google it or maybe i'll just quickly tell you what it is - artificial crab made of fish. I certainly do not appreciate staff claiming that my cheap $11 burrito is filled with the real deal when it isn't. Very disappointing... And for that, I will only give 2 stars.

Two stars for mildly not so bad in a grand forks kinda way food. Corporate mexican would be a good description of it. Neat lighting fixtures took my mind off the horrible service. Received and was charged for things we didn't order. Main course was incorrect. Salsa was a bland cumin contraption that must please the Norwegian pallet or something. I've only found it here and across the street at that abortion called Mexican Village. The waiter was the typical, Grand Forker who doesn't give a crap and has a poor work ethic. Ill get my mexican in East Grand Forks or Melrose MN and skip this place.

Yummers! Simple & delicious Tex Mex. The salsa & tortilla chips are sooo good, come hungry or you'll fill up on them before your meal arrives! I don't mean the service is slow, service is always very friendly & swift, they're just that good. They have added many vegetarian options to their menu, including faux meat (tofu beef & chicken), I haven't tried them yet but their veggie & cheesy dishes are super tasty. I'm happy to have so many vegetarian options! Save room for the fried ice cream!

The margaritas are actually quite good. The fajita steak is great tasting, but is more of a char broil taste that doesn't even give a hint of "Mexican". The food is alright, just don't be expecting Mexican food or staff.

Combo Magnifico Platter all the way! A must stop for Winnipegger's.... love the environment and the food. Bring your fat pants.

To start, I grew up in a Mexican neighborhood in Chicago, lived in Las Vegas and then moved here to Grand Forks. With that being said, I don't think people in North Dakota know what Mexican food is because this isn't Mexican food. It's more like Taco Bell Mexican food but in a restaurant setting. The building is nice, the staff was really nice but when I asked the waitress if they had Horchata she had no idea what that was and I said this is a Mexican restaurant right? lol Anyways, food seemed like it was out of a microwave, not fresh. I will not recommend this place. If you know what real Mexican food is then stay away from this place or you'll just end up leaving disappointed.

Don't be fooled by the reviews it is that bad. Keep in mind you are about as far away from the Mexican border while being close to some sort of civilization in the US! That being said, the atmosphere is odd. It's like a cross between Tijuana and Chinatown. Also, too many screaming kids. The chips are straight from a bag not made on site. One positive is that I did try a new Mexican beer that was tasty, which raised it from 1 star. My service was fine. The chicken chimi left a lot to be desired. First off it was so flippin hot I had to let it cool for 5min while eating more crappy chips. The only way to describe the sauce-pot roast gravy? The best item in the plate was the beans. If you are visiting GF don't waste your time/money. If you live in GF, I'm sorry you are really missing out on good Mexican food-move!

Worst Mexican food ever. The fish tacos were deep fried Hortons fish patty with tarter sauce slapped inside a soft taco. Disgusting! I think everything on the menu is served with over cooked broccoli. Gave it one star just because salsa was OK and drinks were OK. I don't think people in North Dakota like spicy!?

I have no idea where the reviewer of the Jan 5 post comes from- but in Grand Forks, Paradiso does have the best ("americanized") Mexican food. Anyway, I order the fajita a lot and I've never had it without all the sauteed green peppers and onions I could handle. I always get way more sauteed veggies than I can possibly eat in 3 fajitas. I've been going to this place several times a month for the last 10 years, and have always had great service, delicious food and excellent margaritas and no complaints about anything! Give this place a 2nd shot, and if you've not been there yet- go for it, its delicious!

The atmosphere upon entering the restaurant is like Mexico itself. Lots of brightly coloured tile, pictures and statues and Mexican music all coming together to give the feeling of having traveled. We were promptly served a basket of chips with delicious salsa, which was refilled nearly the second I had emptied it. Our waitress was never far yet I didn't feel the least bit smothered either. The dishes are huge and very tasty and average around $11 for the platters or combination plates. The Margarita pitchers were also very inexpensive at only $9 for about 4 full drinks and yet delicious. And every day they had a different special offer. The night we went they had a buy one get one free dessert offer. Of course, after such a huge, delicious meal, dessert was the last thing I needed but I couldn't resist trying it. The fried ice cream did not disappoint. Though I had no criticism whatsoever, I was unable to finish it, but it was fun trying.

My favorite restaurant in GF! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The Queso is a great way to start your meal, not to mention free chips and salsa. There are so many great menu choices. The Fajitas, Combination Plate and Wild Tostada are my favorites. This is NOT an authentic Mexican Restaurant. But if you enjoy Americanized Mexican food, this is the place to go. Unfortunately, the few authentic Mexican restaurants we've had in GF have closed down. Surprisingly, there is not enough interest.

The Food here is weird. Okay, so it's not real mexican food. But it taste CHEAP and WIERD. WTH No Freakin Comment. ahhhhhhh!

Yuck. Americanized Mexican food that tastes like it was warmed up in the microwave. The only thing I actually enjoy here are the chips and salsa but even the chips tasted bad last time I went. On the other hand, my mom who can't handle any ethnic cuisines, loves it and in this part of the country that seems to be common. At least it's better than Mexican village, relatively speaking. If you want decent Mexican food in GF, go to Mi Mexico.

"Would you like red or green gravy on your enchiladas sir?" That question pretty much sums up the entire experience of dining at this sub-par restaurant. Avoid it like the plague. Whether it was the disgusting colored gravy that actually accompanied my food, or the complete and utter lack of flavor to the dish, I knew I had lost all hope for this city, and state's culinary palate considering the restaurant's popularity amongst the locals. Craving Mexican food? Make it yourself, or stick with higher-quality options like Mi Mexico or Taco Bell.

yikes. Being from LA I must say I have gotten used to the authentic and amazing mexican food that LA has to offer. After coming back from Grand Forks, I can say I have a newfound respect because while in GF I had some of the worst mexican food I've ever had. Nothing extreme like hair in the food or bugs but I'm fairly confident that I could make better mexican food with the use of a microwave and a burrito from taco bell. They use almost all Sysco food (and the low end of their available selections) the most obvious of which are the vegetables. To top it off, the place is rather expensive (for the area) which is a double negative. If you are drunk or hungover or in some other way intoxicated and just need a quick snack and don't have high standards, then this place might pass, but that's about it.

This place is gross. It's not even "americanized" mexican. It's crap covered in cheese and watery sauce. It's gross. It'd dried out on the inside, piled with melted cheese on the outside, and covered in a watery, semi-spicy sauce. I've given the place a try every other year and it's still the same. People still go here, so I guess something has to be right, but I'd rather go to Taco Bell. Seating is packed tight in this place too. You'll be crammed up right against someone else's table. It's loud, since they pack everyone so tight.

Is it authentic Mexican? No But it is soooo delicious, especially the jalapeno burrito.....yummmy flavor explosions in my mouth! I have been ordering the exact same meal from paradiso for over 10 years. The hot sauce is great too! Whenever I am in town I have to go the Paradiso at least three times. Very easy on the wallet too!

This is your standard, Americanized version of Mexican cuisine. If you can accept that, you'll do just fine. But, if you are expecting authentic faire, this isn't the place for you. Portions are large and filling. Plus, free chips and salsa (although the salsa is very tomatoey and watered down). If you come on a Wednesday, be prepared to wait as they offer unlimited fajitas that night (very tasty by the way). The decor is what you would expect from an American interpretation of Mexico. Bright colors, various types of decorations around. They also have flat panel televisions sprinkled around the place. They seem out of place and there's always sports on the screen. But, in case your conversation drags, at least you'll have something to watch. Overall, a pretty decent place to eat. Costs aren't too pricey and the food offered is good. Very filling as well.

You want some truely AMERICAN MEXICAN FOOD! This is where it's at! Growing up on Paradiso...it's as good as it gets! Until you move to a place like Southern California and your view on Mexican food will completely change! But I do still get a craving for some good ole american mexican food from time to time! and the hot sauce here is to DIE FOR! It is also another MUST STOP place when I go home for a visit!

I just moved here and decided to try this place since it seems like it's always busy. So it had to have good food. The food was alright, but I must say, I grew up in Texas, so I know how good mexican food. The food is adequate for a Mexican restaurant in North Dakota. It satisfied my cravings for a mexican food.

Food is poor quality, I can make better fajitas at home. I was expecting more from a place that is so popular.

Hola amigas Que quiere a comer You funny gringas (Let's be honest... Paradiso isn't REALLY a mexican restaurant. It makes some pretty darn good food, though. We're in North Dakota, folks... cut them some slack for lacking authenticity, and go enjoy yourself a margarita and some fajitas! Recommended.)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
